IMPORTANT: All students now have access to Noodle Tools, an online student research platform where you should create source citations needed for your research projects. Noodle Tools will automatically create a bibliography or works cited list for you in a Google doc. Please see Mrs. Herrmann if you have any questions.
THE INSTRUCTIONS BELOW ARE ONLY NEEDED IF YOU ARE CREATING A BIBLIOGRAPHY WITHOUT NOODLE TOOLS.
Once you have filled in a citation slip for each of your sources, you will use the slips to create a typed bibliography. Be sure to include all the information you filled in and all the punctuation marks found on the slips. Each slip or source will appear as one entry in your bibliography.
IMPORTANT: MLA style requires you to use font Times New Roman 12 when typing your bibliography.
Follow these four simple rules:
- Alphabetize entries by author’s last name or title if there is no author.
- Double space within and between all entries.
- Indent all but the first line in each entry. (This is called a hanging indent and you can set it up in your Google doc or select it as a paragraph formatting option in Microsoft Word.)
- Italicize the titles of books, databases, and websites.
