Book Review Podcasts
Recording Your Book Review
In order to record your book review, you will first need to create an account on audioBoom. Please sign up using your @oldrochester.org e-mail account and your student ID number (lunch code) followed by three 0's. Click on Sign In and then on Sign Up to create your account.
7th Graders: Your username should be your first name followed by the first letter of your last name with -orr added to the end. For example, if your name is Laura Jones, your username will be lauraj-orr. Your password should be the same password you use to log into the Chromebook.
8th Graders: You should sign in using the account you created last year. That account was created using your @oldrochester.org e-mail and the same password you use to log into the Chromebook.
Once you have created an account, you can record your book review. View the tutorial below to learn how to record and edit. Please include the title of the book you are reviewing in your podcast title.

Adding a Cover Image Using a Chromebook
After you have recorded and saved your book review podcast, you can add a cover image. You can also add an image after you have published your book review. You will first have to go to the page with your book review post and click on the edit box above your username.
- Open a new tab and use Google image search to find a cover image.
- Click on a thumbnail image that appears on the results page. A larger image will appear.
- Hold down the alt key and click on this image.
- Click on SAVE IMAGE AS.
- A Download folder will open. Click the SAVE button on the bottom of the folder window.
- Go back to the audioBoom page with your book review post. Click on the image box.
- Select the image file you just saved and click Open. The cover image should now appear in the box.
- Be sure to ADD A TITLE and then PUBLISH your post or SAVE CHANGES if you published earlier.
Adding a Cover Image Using a Desktop Computer or Laptop
- Log into your audioBoom account.
- Click on the V next to your username at the top right of the screen, and then click on Posts. When your book review page loads, you will see an edit box above your username.
- Click on the edit box and you will be able to drag an image from your desktop into the image box or select one from your files.
- Be sure to click on SAVE CHANGES before leaving the page.
Posting the Link to Your Book Review
7th Graders: Please remember to post the link to your book review in the comment stream on your Google classroom page as directed by Ms. Sullivan or Mrs. Harriman.
8th Graders: Mr. Andree's students should post their links on his Andree Institute blog page here.
