About the Library
The ORRJHS Library serves students using a learning commons model. While we still have lots of books and areas for quiet reading and research, we have also increasingly become “a place for experimenting, playing, making, doing, thinking, collaborating, and growing” (Loertscher and Koechlin E3). *
To better support student collaboration and new types of content creation, the library has added flexible seating options, cafe tables and chairs, and Chromebooks for students to use during RTI as well as during class visits. Students have already used these Chromebooks to post and license original artwork online, to record book review podcasts, and to make green screen videos. We look forward to many more new and innovative projects in the months ahead!

Mission
The ORRJHS library provides instruction, readers' advisory services, books, databases, and other resources designed to:
• encourage and support a love of reading as expressed through a variety of reading interests
• promote and expand students' intellectual curiosity
• integrate research and digital literacy skills into each subject-area curriculum
• equip students with the knowledge and skills to become critical thinkers as well as effective and responsible users of information in all formats

Loans
Books are checked out for a period of three weeks and students may have up to three books out at a time. Students wishing to renew a book must bring it with them to the library. Renewals are normally allowed unless another student has requested the book and is waiting for it. |

Visits
In addition to visiting the library with their classes, students are welcome to visit before school, after school, and during RTI. Students who wish to spend all of RTI in the library should sign up with Mrs. Herrmann before homeroom and get their agendas stamped. |
